PM Narendra Modi addresses Ministry of Education’s conclave on NEP 2020

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a 2-day conclave on ‘School Education in 21st Century’ under the National Education Policy 2020, today 11th September, through video conferencing.

The conclave has been organised by the Ministry of Education as part of its ‘Shikshak Parv’ event which is being celebrated from September 8th – 25th to honour teachers and take the New Education Policy 2020 forward. As part of the event, webinars, virtual conferences, and conclaves on various aspects of National Education Policy 2020 are being organised across the country.

Speaking on the NEP 2020, Prime Minister Modi said the NEP will reduce the syllabus and make learning a fun-based and complete experience and that a new curriculum framework has been drafted with schools and students expected to adapt to the new curriculum by 2022. The Prime Minister also said it will be a future-ready and scientific curriculum and that the future will have new skills including critical thinking, creativity, communication, and curiosity.

Adding to this, Prime Minister Modi said that students will be taught in their mother tongue until Class 5. The Prime Minister also urged teachers, NGOs, organisations, students, and parents to join the national mission, saying “With your support the nation will implement the NEP successfully”.

As per reports, the conclave sessions focused on the important aspects of education covered under the National Education Policy, 2020 such as Holistic, Multidisciplinary and futuristic education, Quality Research, and Equitable use of technology for better reach in Education.
