More than 85% candidates appear for NEET 2020

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020, the single entrance exam for Indian students seeking admission to undergraduate medical courses, was held on September 13, 2020, after being postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to reports, Union Education Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said that this year around 85-90 per cent of the 15.9 students appearing for the exam.

NEET 2020 was initially scheduled to be held in May this year; however, the exam was rescheduled due to Coronavirus concerns. Recently, the Supreme Court rejected a petition for further postponement of the exam.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) says the exam was held with strict safety measures in place, such as sanitisation of exam halls, provision of masks and gloves at exam centres and reducing the number of candidates per room from 24 to 12.
