Karnataka Announces Panel for Creation of Norms for Next Academic Year for Primary and Secondary Education

The Karnataka government has announced the setting up of a panel for the creation of rules and guidelines for the academic year 2021-22 for primary and secondary education.

According to reports, the role of the committee will be to oversee the assessment models, offline and online education, teacher training methodology and judicious utilization of budgetary resources amongst many other things as dictated by the Minister for Primary and Secondary Education.

He said in a statement that the implementation of the New Education Policy (NEP) in letter and in spirit will be in full effect from 2021-22.

According to him, the committee will comprise eminent educationists, child specialists, and representatives from the Indian Institute of Science, NIMHANS members of Technical Advisory Committee on COVID, eminent health experts and various officers and representatives of parents, private schools and teachers associations.

The Minister also said that immediate and dependent family members of the government and government-aided school teachers who died on Covid-19 duty will receive financial assistance from the Teachers Benefit Fund. He said, “As they are at the forefront of delivering their responsibilities, it has been decided to put up a proposal to the health department to term them as COVID warriors and provide them priority in administering COVID vaccine.”

It is also being said that the textbooks will reach students in approximately two months’ time and the process of teacher recruitment will also be expedited by completing the formalities associated with cadre & recruitment amendments.
