210

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 is a comprehensive framework for the transformation of the education system in India. It was approved by the Union Cabinet of India in July 2020. The NEP 2020 aims to bring about significant changes in the education system from school to higher education levels, with a focus on holistic development, skill enhancement, and flexibility. It aims to promote India as a “GLOBAL STUDY DESTINATION,” providing premium education at an affordable cost and attracting a greater number of international students.

In order to facilitate the mobility of students in a seamless manner, UGC has drafted enabling regulations to provide a robust and transparent mechanism for recognizing foreign qualifications and granting equivalence to such qualifications. The Draft University Grants Commission (Recognition and Grant of Equivalence to Qualifications Obtained from Foreign Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2023, are hereby placed in the public domain.

Recently, UGC invited suggestions, comments, or feedback from all stakeholders on the aforesaid draft regulations. Suggestions, comments, or feedback may be sent to ugcequivalence@gmail.com by September 16, 2023.
